SIGINT versus HUMINT Explained

Signals intelligence intercepts what machines say to each other: phone calls, emails, radar emissions, satellite links. Human intelligence is what people tell you: recruited agents, defectors, diplomats. SIGINT scales enormously, since one listening post can cover a whole country, but it vanishes when targets encrypt.
