Aman
Israeli military intelligence, producer of national strategic assessments
Overview
Aman is the directorate of military intelligence of the Israel Defense Forces and for decades delivered the national intelligence assessment through its research division. Its Unit 8200 intercepts communications and is renowned as a training ground for the Israeli technology sector. The surprise of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, widely attributed to a doctrinal fixation known as the concept, triggered deep reforms in how Israeli analysis handles evidence that contradicts expectations. Aman also runs target intelligence for operations. Aman also includes targeting units that translate intelligence into strike planning during later conflicts.
